Frequently Asked Questions
What type of patients do you typically see for an assessment?
Most typically, clients present due to mental health issues (i.e. stress, anxiety, depression, etc.) that are impacting their well-being, academic, social and physical health. Other times, clients seek out my services for diagnostic clarification for cognitive issues (i.e. Intellectual Disability, learning delays, language delays) or neurodevelopmental issues (i.e. Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD). Most of my clients want my services as they haven't been helped with conventional medicine and are seeking chemical free solutions. In addition to wanting diagnostic clarity that can better inform treatment, they are also seeking less invasive and more holistic treatment options.
If I want an assessment, what does it look like?
Each assessment is custom built for the individual. It begins with an initial meeting with you to discuss concerns and to go over background information. This is followed by a second session in which I meet remotely with you or your child for testing. Assessment sessions generally range from 1.5 to 4 hours with the option of extending it over a couple of days. After the assessment, a feedback session is scheduled to go over the results and to discuss next steps. Included in all assessments are holistic treatment recommendations so you’re left with specific action plans to put to use right away.
What if I just want a consultation, but don't want testing?
That's totally an option. Sometimes my clients have already been diagnosed or are not questioning diagnosis, yet want some alternative options for healing and whole body health. I am happy to offer a 3 month 1:1 or group coaching plan just for this purpose.
What if I don't want to do a full assessment, but I still want some direction?
Great question! I offer screening sessions which are designed to help you learn more about yourself or your child so that you can make informed decisions and develop a plan. These are best if you have a very specific question you want answered. Some types of screenings I do are developmental, which is great for parents wondering about their child's development. Other screeners look at symptoms of ADHD, anxiety, behaviors, kindergarten readiness, giftedness, cognitive functioning, or life stress. Please note that screening sessions are not comprehensive evaluations and may not result in a diagnosis.
Where do assessments take place?
I offer appointments via Doxy, FaceTime, or Zoom. Assessment services are only offered to those residing in California, Florida or Texas.
What sort of recommendations can I expect from this assessment?
While recommendations will be different for everyone, I work from an integrative and holistic view point. That said, my recommendations will often include evidenced-based nutrition, physical, spiritual, and social components in addition to the more traditional ones. My goal is for you to leave feeling confident and empowered with a set of tools knowing you're heading in the right direction. Even though I do not provide traditional on-going therapy, I often schedule follow-up consults to discuss progress and if recommendations need any adjusting.
Do you do educational assessments?
Yes! While I am not contracted by the school district for assessments, the results of my assessment can definitely help with educational programming and appropriate classroom placement. I can also do classroom observations should this be of interest.
Do you take health insurance?
I do not currently take health insurance. Rates for testing range from $2500+. I do offer payment plans if needed. However, final reports are not released until paid in full.
